When you lose a loved one.
We know that when you suffer a bereavement, a funeral for a member of your family is likely to be one of the most difficult days of your life; in one day all your feelings for that loved one are expressed, and many memories revisited. When a relative or a family friend dies, it comes as great shock, sometimes the death may be expected however nothing prepares you for the emotional shock of losing someone close. As your funeral directors, we at Caradoc Price are here to help and advise in whatever way we can. We are the dedicated professionals who provide a personal service to you, in your time of need.
Arranging the Funeral
Our services to you start when you contact us, this can be via calling our 24 hour number: 01685 723797, or by calling personally; and often extend way beyond the day of the funeral. On initial contact we will ask for preliminary details: if the deceased has died at home, at hospital or in a nursing home, and if required we will arrange the conveyance of the deceased to our private Chapel of Rest, at Rectory Close, Dowlais. Following this we will then agree on a time and place so that you can meet with the funeral director to discuss all of your personal wishes. Most of the time this takes place at your own home, as we find it is more comforting for the family, however we can also arrange a meeting at our office facilities.

Costs and Charges
Whilst going through all of the arrangements of the funeral, we will not only advise on costs and charges but also procedures and legal requirements. As for the cost of the funeral; the funeral account itself is divided into to separate parts, a) the funeral director's charges and b) the disbursements.
These Funeral Directors charges contain our professional fees and overhead costs, which include the provision of a 24 hour a day service, our professional documentation and necessary personal attendances, the conveyance of the deceased to our private Chapel of Rest and the use of the same, until the day of the funeral.
We understand that relatives and friends often wish to visit the deceased and pay their last respects before the day of the funeral, however we will only allow this on the specific request of the family.
We consider hygienic treatment and attendances to the deceased with utmost importance. The last time you saw a loved one may have been a distressing memory, perhaps in hospital; in any event we believe that in asking us to look after a loved one, you would like to be certain that the best that could be done for your relative has been done whether you wish to visit the deceased or not.
The Hearse for the funeral with chauffeur and sufficient bearers is also an essential part of our service. We understand that in some cases family members or friends wish to act as bearers and we see no better fitting tribute than this, and we are on hand to support them throughout. In addition to this, the funeral procession will go on a route that passes places of memory for the family, for example past family homes.
Limousines are charged for separately, ensuring that the family is not charged for something they may not need or want. The charge for limousines is fully inclusive to cover transport from the address at which your family request, through to your return to the final destination, i.e., the location of the wake. Each limousine is chauffeur driven, and will normally carry up to seven mourners. For information on our vehicles, please click here.
Disbursements are essentially fees that we pay out on behalf of the family, i.e., Doctor's fees where appropriate, Crematorium/Cemetery Fees (Note that there is a double fee for those who are not living in Merthyr that wish to bury in one of our Cemeteries) and Parochial Fees etc. All of the fees will be discussed with you during the initial meeting with the funeral director. However, you will appreciate that we will have no direct control over these charges, and they could be therefore subject to slight variations.
